Will cleaning my equipment take the nasty smell out of my gear? If your equipment has never been cleaned before it will take a couple of treatments to totally eliminate the odour. The important thing is that 99.9% of the bacteria is killed. Depending on your body makeup and how often you play your gear will start to smell in 10 to 14 days after treatment. Your hockey gear is no different then your work out shirt and shorts. Imagine how they would smell if you only cleaned them every couple months! YUCK!
How often should I get my gear cleaned? We recommend you clean your gear at least twice a season, once part way through the year and again at the end of the season. If you are playing hockey 3 to 4 times per week we recommend you clean your gear monthly.
